I have been writing this book, on and off, for nearly 40 years. It traces my life from conception to retirement, and highlights the many connections I have had with anaesthetic agents throughout my life, including the 38 years I worked in the National Health Service (UK) as a full-time anaesthetist.
Events within each chapter are related in chronological order, and are told as truthfully as fickle memory will allow, though names of patients, and sometimes other details as well, have been altered in the interests of confidentiality.
