GASMAN

A Personal History of Anaesthesia

I have been writing this book, on and off, for nearly  30 years. It traces my life from conception to retirement, and highlights the many connections I have had with anaesthetic agents throughout my life, including the 38 years I worked in the National Health Service (UK) as a full-time anaesthetist.

There are notes at the end of each chapter. If you click on any reference number it will take you to the relevant note, and you can always get back to where you were by clicking on the 'Back' button.

Events within each chapter are related in chronological order, and are told as truthfully as fickle memory will allow, though names of patients, and sometimes other details as well, have been altered in the interests of confidentiality.

I hope you find GASMAN interesting and informative. The work is, of course, copyright, but you may download and print copies of any part for your own personal use. If you do this, you might like to consider making a small contribution to Actionaid, whose address is: Chataway House, Leach Rd, Chard, Somerset, England, TA20 1FR.
