AMBER and SAMODE
Amber, 11 Km north of Jaipur, was the ancient capital of Jaipur State. The Palace-Fort was started in 1592. We paid a fascinating morning visit there on our way to Samode. That night we stayed at the Hotel Samode Palace, which is quite fabulous. No wonder that they filmed The Far Pavilions there.

We climbed up to it on an elephant, which was a bit scary as we were hanging over the wall at the side of the path | ||

We were very tired when we got to Samode Palace and though Mr Singh wanted to take us to the village at 4pm we decided to laze around the pool instead. A happy choice!
